Grave of Philander McCarter
Philander is buried on his farm in Ashe County, North Carolina just over the Virginia state line. His grave is located half-way up a hillside in an unfenced cemetery in a cow pasture.
Not long after these photos were taken, a Virginia cousin moved this endangered gravestone to her family cemetery in Tazewell County. She has since put a new marker in its place. We will post photos of the new marker as soon as we receive them.
